Support Urban Farming in Montgomery County

    October 6, 2016

Eco City Farms Montgomery County Council is currently considering a bill (Bill 31-16) from Councilman Tom Hucker that will expand the urban agriculture tax credit for urban farms between 1/2 and 5 acres. These smaller sized farms provide an important service to local communities, but currently do not get the tax credit that’s available to larger urban farms.

The hearing for the bill took place last month, but the Montgomery County Council is receiving written testimony through October.  If you are an urban farmer, or you can speak about the benefits of urban farming in your own community – you should let the Montgomery County Council know.

You can email your testimony to mail it to Montgomery County Council at 100 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, MD 20850.
