Pumpkins! Also, Ways to Keep Supporting Your Local, Visionary Farmers This Season

    October 5, 2016

Feeling a little sad about the end of Summer and the abundance of so much local produce? No need to fret! Fair Farms has wonderful farm partners that have Fall and Winter CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) programs, so that you won’t need to go without your fresh, delicious, local goodies during the season.

In case you’re unfamiliar with how a CSA works, consumers pay an upfront subscription fee to a local farmer for a share of the season’s bounty. The CSA is usually delivered weekly.

As consumers, it is a wonderful opportunity to interact directly with farmers and those who grow your food. A CSA subscription is a great way to develop a relationships, and learn more about the produce that can be grown in your area — like delicious Maryland pumpkins.

Just in case you’ve been bit by the pumpkin bug, we’ve marked our Fair Farms partner farms carrying this well-admired squash varietal in orange. These featured partners have a particularly impressive variety of squash including butternut, neck pumpkin, delicata, as well as the oh-so-popular decorative pumpkin — ready to be turned into that Halloween Jack-o-lantern.

Below are some of our Fair Farms partners offering CSA programs this time of year. For your convenience, we have also plotted the pick-up locations on a Google Map below the list:
