Announcing Our New Campaign Manager!
Fair Farms has very exciting news! We just hired a brand new campaign manager, Alicia LaPorte, who will assume her new role in August. We feel very lucky to welcome Alicia to the team.
Alicia has nearly a decade of experience working to promote public health, support sustainable agriculture, and protect our environment by implementing campaign strategies that combine direct grassroots and coalition organizing with smart marketing and communications tools.
Alicia worked for more than 7 years at The Pew Charitable Trust as both a digital campaigns expert and as a senior outreach associate for the Campaign on Human Health & Industrial Farming.
After working from a national perspective on agriculture policy, she spent the past two years learning from the ground up about farming, meat production, and the business of responsibly-produced food.
Alicia managed on-the-ground operations of the mobile farmers market at Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture, a Fair Farms partner. This program brings sustainable and local food to communities in Washington, D.C. with limited access to fresh and healthy food. She also worked as a butcher’s apprentice at a sustainably sourced delicatessen and at a hog farm and sustainable agriculture education center in Italy.
Most recently, as a consultant, Alicia has been providing direct support to George Washington University’s Antibiotic Resistance Action Center and to Niman Ranch, a leading meat company (now owned by Maryland-based Perdue Farms) that sources from over 720 independent farmers and ranchers committed to sustainable & humane practices.
Alicia is incredibly committed to influencing policies to create a more just and sustainable food system.
