Eating Local

In Maryland, it’s not hard to eat locally. But why should you? First, there are personal health benefits of eating locally grown produce and meat. You can talk to your farmer and know how your food is produced. Is it grown without chemical inputs like fertilizer and pesticides? Are they using environmentally-friendly practices like rotational grazing? Finally, it’s good for the local economy, keeping the dollars you spend on food in your local community.
